Camlock Fittings – Simple & Secure Sealing
Camlock couplings are well-known as quick hose coupling providing quick connection and disconnection for pumps, tanks, equipment, IBCs and places where hoses should be changed frequently to achieve a special aim like paint & ink factory.
Cam & groove couplings are easy to operate. Camlock consists of two parts - male adapter and female coupler. You just need insert the adapter into the coupler until contact is made with the gasket. Then press down the cam arms simultaneously to produce a uniform gasket compression. During the process of installation, no tools are required and hand pressure is enough. Hence, camlock fittings not only save your time but also the tools and human power.
Cam & groove couplings are equipped with PVC suction hoses, layflat discharge hoses and other low pressure hoses. It can simplify the operation and save working time greatly. However, cam locks are not suitable for any kind of hose. It is forbidden to be used in compressed air or gas or high pressure applications.
Camlock fittings are manufactured by multiple materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, brass, polypropylene & fiberglass reinforced nylon to satisfy diverse requirements on the markets. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages, so you should balance on their applications and values to select the right coupling. If you are not sure about how to select the coupling, contact us and our experienced sales will give you professional recommendation.

Aluminum Camlock Coupling
Aluminum camlock couplings are available for water, petroleum products, slurry and dry powder for its good chemical and abrasion resistance. It is an economical, lightweight yet strong metal. Its size comes in a variety of sizes from 1/2" to 8". Handles and pins are brass or brass coated aluminum. Aluminum camlocks are extensively used in trash pumps, general purpose pumps, transfer pumps, IBC and tanks. Working pressure of aluminum couplings depends on the temperature and the size. For 1/2" to 2", the pressure is 250pis, 2 1/2" to 4" is 150 psi, 5" & 6" is 75 psi and 8" is 50 psi.

Stainless Steel Camlock Coupling
Manufactured by MIL-C-27487 (A-A-27487), stainless steel camlocks are especially used in food & sanitary field. Stainless steel 316 is highly resistant to most chemicals & liquids, and it will always keep lustrous appearance. Although it is a little expensive, it has a much longer service life and will not pollute the media to be conveyed. Working pressure for stainless steel cam & groove fittings – 1/2" is 150 psi, 3/4" to 2" is 250 psi, 2 1/2" is 225 psi, 3" is 200 psi and 4" to 6" is 100 psi. Temperature range is -150°F to +500°F (-101°C to +260°C).

Brass Camlock Coupling
Similar to stainless steel, brass camlocks have good corrosion resistance and long service life. However, brass couplings are less expensive and softer & easier to thread. They are compatible with water, coolants, hydraulic oils, gasolines and petroleum products. Thanks to its special non-sparking feature, it is ideal for marine fueling systems. Sizes range from 1/2" to 8". Working pressure for brass cam locks depends on the size and temperature. At ambient temperature, the rated pressure for 1/2" to 2" is 250 psi; 2 1/2" is 150 psi, 3" is 125 psi, 4" is 100 psi, 5" to 6" is 75 psi, and 8" will be 50 psi.

Nylon Camlock Coupling
Glass fiber reinforced nylon couplings are resistant to hydrocarbons, solvents, most chemical chemicals expect for acid-based fertilizers. Nylon cam & groove couplings are manufactured by MIL-C-27487/A-A-59326. The sizes range from 1/2" to 8". Handles and pins are stainless steel and standard gasket is Buna-N. EPDM, PTFE, Viton & other gaskets are available. Fiber reinforced nylon camlocks are worked under low pressure. For 3/4" to 2", the pressure is 100 psi, and for 3" and 4" is 50 psi. Part DP & DC is not be suitable for pressure applications.

Polypropylene Camlock Coupling
Black polypropylene camlocks are widely used in suction/discharge hoses of agriculture or industrial applications. They are much cheaper than stainless steel or bass. At the same time, it can't stand up with as much strength as metal camlocks. Available for most aggressive chemicals and solvents. Sizes range from 1/2 inch to 4 inch. Working pressure for 1/2" is 75 psi. 3/4" to 2" is 100 psi, and 3" to 4" is 50 psi.
When using any camlock coupling, make sure the material including the camlock and the gaskets, is compatible with the media. If you don't know how to select the camlock and its assemblies like gaskets, email us without hesitation at rox@hebeiqianli.com.
